Will I receive a Paystub?

Since SFC is not a payroll processing, you will not receive a formal paystub. If you need a stipend statement, please contact your HHPSA Family Coordinator or the Department Director/Coordinator.

How much will be my daily stipend?

Your daily stipend depends on the SFC level your loved one is assigned by their Medicaid care manager.

Do I qualify for benefits like insurance?

SFC Caregivers do not qualify for agency benefits.

What are my training requirements?

Principal caregivers must receive a minimum of 8 hours of annual training that reflects the client's and principal caregiver's assessed needs. Training may be delivered during quarterly home visits, or in another manner that is flexible and meaningful for the caregiver.

Can I provide Medication Administration under SFC to my loved one?

Per FSSA: Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) is not intended to replace the role of or disrupt the family or familial relationship in the lives of members receiving SFC services. Therefore, the administration of medication by immediate family members would be allowable as part of the typical role and responsibility of an immediate family member. Given that SFC pays a per diem rate the medication administration would not be part of the activities and support provided by a family members paid as a structured family caregiver, but rather an activity that typically occurs between the member and immediate family. Because medication administration is not a Structured Family Caregiving service, it should not be included in documentation of Structured Family Caregiving services.

Can I provide SFC to my loved one while outside Indiana or the United States?

SFC is allowed while the SFC caregiver and the client are traveling together outside of Indiana while within the United States.
